and knowledge of all things French
Come along to a FREE ‘Taster’ session.
After a 40 year teaching career in West Yorkshire, 27 years of which was teaching French at the Adult Education Centre in Holmfirth, Val retired in 2007.
Her students, however, would have none of that “retirement nonsense” and persuaded her to continue her classes on a more informal basis. Since then Val has run her own French Conversation Classes in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and without the constraints of any formal assessments or exams.
Her extensive experience shows that there are many reasons why people come to her to learn French, beyond the obvious need to speak to somebody in the language. Equally, what people value from attending her classes is well beyond improvement in their language skill.
Her classes are designed and organised to meet all these diverse needs.
Classes are held weekly with three options to accommodate different needs, abilities and preferences for attending daytime or evening sessions.
For people with at least 3-4 years of French, roughly post GSCE level, wishing to continue and develop their conversational skills. An ideal option for those who are at work during the daytime.
For people who wish to “start over” and gain confidence in using the language.
Similar to the Tuesday session but catering for those who prefer to come along during the daytime.
Students in all classes are encouraged to learn about the country and its culture as well as using the language in interesting and meaningful ways. The aim is to enhance their overall experience of France and their use of the French language whilst travelling abroad.
Flexibility in the scheduling of classes and not having to adhere to or commit to normal school terms are recognised as distinct benefits.....
- Classes are scheduled in advance in blocks of 5
- Class schedules are decided towards the end of the current block of classes, typically by consensus to reflect the prevailing needs of each group
- If on an occasion a student cannot attend their normal class, then, subject to the discretion of the Tutor, they can have the option to attend an alternative session on another day
The formula used to calculate fees and charges ensures very good value for money and avoids the need for a minimum number of students to sustain continuity of the class.
Basic Fee Structure:
£3 per hour per student.
£1 per hour per student.
The total payment is £8.00 for a weekly session of 2 hours.
Basis of Payment:
Fees and Venue Charges are paid in advance and become due on the date of the first class of the new schedule.
In the event that a student cannot attend all 5 classes within the schedule, the arrangements are:
Tutor's Fees are paid for only those classes to be attended.
Tutor's Fees are paid for the full block of 5 classes.
All students who attend any of the scheduled classes pay the Venue Charges for all of the 5 classes.
